Everyone has regrettable moments: For Hillary Clinton, a former US presidential candidate, hers borders on the 2016 election.

In an upcoming memoir titled ‘What Happened’, Clinton expresses disappointment in her failed bid for the US presidency, revealing the things she wished she could take back, and those she could have done differently.

Excerpts of the book, set to be released on September 12, were aired on ‘Morning Joe,’ a show on American television network MSNBC.

Clinton said in one of the excerpts: “I don’t have all the answers and this isn’t a comprehensive account of the 2016 race. In this book, I write about moments from the campaign that I wish I could go back and do over. If the Russians could hack my subconscious, they’d find a long list.”

The book describes what it felt like for the former secretary of state to be the first nominated woman by a major US political party running against now-President Donald Trump.

Clinton also wrote about the viral moment when Trump stood behind her during a debate at Washington University in St. Louis.

She said: “It was incredibly uncomfortable. He was literally breathing down my neck. My skin crawled. It was one of those moments where you wish you could hit pause and ask everyone watching, well, what would you do?”

“I kept my cool, aided by a lifetime of dealing with men trying to throw me off.”

Clinton has authored several books about her life and career in politics, including ‘Hard Choices’ and ‘Living History’.
