Christine Baumgartner, the wife of Kevin Costner, the US actor, has filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage.

According to TMZ, Christine filed the suit to end their union on Monday, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Costner’s representative also told the news outlet that the situation is “beyond the actor’s control.”

“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired,” Costner’s representative said.

“This has resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.

“We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”

The 49-year-old businesswoman is reportedly asking for joint custody of their kids but not for spousal support.

It is unclear what led to their split.

Costner and Christine tied the knot in Colorado in September 2004. They have three children together – Hayes Logan, Grace Avery, and Cayden Wyatt.

This is the 68-year-old actor’s second marriage.

Costner was previously married to Cindy Silva in 1978. The union of 16 years ended in 1994.

The ‘Yellowstone’ actor and Cindy also have three children together – Lily, Annie, and Joe.

Costner also has one son named Liam – with Bridget Rooney.

Costner rose to prominence in 1987 for his roles in ‘The Untouchables’ and ‘No Way Out’.

He has starred on the Paramount Network original drama series ‘Yellowstone’ for which he received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination and a Golden Globe award.
