Justin Bieber, a Canadian singer, has threatened to take legal action against Danielle, a Twitter user, who accused him of sexually harassing her in 2014.

In the now-deleted post shared on Saturday, the lady had alleged that the music superstar assaulted her sexually in an hotel shortly after an event in Texas.

Reacting to the allegation in a flurry of tweets, Bieber said he would have overlooked the claim but decided to take it up after discussing with his wife.

“I don’t normally address things as I have dealt with random accusations my entire career but after talking with my wife and team I have decided to speak up on an issue tonight,” he wrote.

“Rumors are rumors but sexual abuse is something I don’t take lightly. I wanted to speak out right away but out of respect to so many victims who deal with these issues daily I wanted to make sure I gathered the facts before I made any statement.”

He went on to dismiss the claim, explaining that he was never present at the said location — the Four Seasons hotel in Austin, Texas — on the alleged date (March 9, 2014).

“In the past 24 hours, a new Twitter appeared that told a story of myself involved with sexual abuse on March 9, 2014, in Austin Texas at the Four seasons hotel. I want to be clear. There is no truth to this story. In fact, as I will soon show I was never present at that location,” he added.

He said he spent the night on the alleged date with Selena Gomez, his former girlfriend, in a different hotel.

Bieber bolstered his denial with links to news article and photo of what he said is an invoice for his booking under the name Mike Lowery.

The award-winning singer said he would be working with Twitter authorities to take legal action against his accuser.

“Every claim of sexual abuse should be taken very seriously and this is why my response was needed. However this story is factually impossible and that is why I will be working with Twitter and authorities to take legal action,” he wrote.

The development comes amid series of controversies on social media over allegations and counter allegations with respect to rape cases involving celebrities.

D’banj, a singer and entrepreneur, has been trending in the past weeks after Seyitan Babatayo, a Nigerian lady, accused him of sexual assault.
