Burna Boy, the Afro-fusion singer, says J Cole, the US rapper, referred to him as “a reincarnation of Tupac in Africa”.
The singer recently teamed up with J.Cole for a single titled ‘Thanks’,
In ‘Thanks,’ which is a track from Burna Boy’s latest album ‘I Told Them,’ the rapper likened himself and Burna Boy to two of the NBA’s greatest players.
“Cole and Burna, Shaq and Kobe/ Winnin’ a ring, then we gon’ repeat and three-peat/ Them nerds hate, they seat geeks/ They peepin’ us on the low, we like the cheat sheet,” the lyrics read.
Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant led the Los Angeles Lakers to three consecutive NBA championships in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
Speaking in a recent interview, Burna Boy narrated how he ended up in the studio with J Cole and a group of “tall as hell” basketball players.
The self-proclaimed African Giant also argued that Cole — after being impressed with his studio performance — said “This n*gga’s Tupac reincarnated in Africa”.

“I do not really know the dynamics behind how everything happened, but somehow I end up in the studio with J Cole and a bunch of basketball players tall as hell,” he said.
“And then before any music, we were just talking about real stuff about life and everything really. And for me, it is like, I do not really talk, I do not really have conversations with people that do not live with me and stuff like that.
“So for me, it is like I found myself just going off, and then before we start he just goes, bro, this n*gga is Tupac. I was looking around to see who he was talking about.
“It is me he is talking about, like yeah, this n*gga is, it is like Tupac reincarnated in Africa. I was like, wow that is kind of deep. All right, let us make some music.”
Tupac, the legendary rapper and prolific figure in hip-hop, was fatally shot on September 7, 1996, in a drive-by incident in Las Vegas at the age of 25.
His contributions to the music industry continue to resonate with global audiences.
