The new single is from Burna Boy’s recently released album ‘I Told Them’.

‘Thanks’ starts with Burna Boy asking a thought-provoking question that grabs the listener’s attention.

The song is different from what you would expect, as the singer tries not to use too many beats.

Burna Boy’s part of the song blends smoothly with J Cole’s, creating a unique mix of their musical styles.

“Is this the motherf*cking thanks I get for making my people proud every chance I get? It’s okay, I get. This Naija, no love only Jah know where we started from Oluwa Burna still apply pressure, stick upon you on a silent one,” Burna Boy sings.

Delivering his rap lines, the US rapper likens himself and Burna Boy to two of the NBA’s greatest players.

“Cole and Burna, Shaq and Kobe/ Winnin’ a ring, then we gon’ repeat and three-peat/ Them nerds hate, they seat geeks/ They peepin’ us on the low, we like the cheat sheet,” he raps in his verse.

Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy started to gain fame after releasing ‘Like to Party’, the lead single from his debut album ‘L.I.F.E’ (2013).

In 2021, the singer set a record in Nigeria after his fifth album ‘Twice As Tall (2020)’ won the ‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammys.

J Cole, on the other hand, gained global prominence after he released his debut studio album, ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’, in 2011.
