Iyanya says Kcee, a music colleague of his, bought him his first flight ticket to Lagos.

In a chat with Naija FM, Iyanya said he lived with Kcee for two years in the early days of their music career.

The music star said they still have a good relationship and even communicated recently.

“Kcee was the first person to buy my ticket from Calabar to Lagos,” Iyanya said.

“I stayed with Kcee for two years. We dey together this morning sef.”

Iyanya rose to fame after winning the first season of Project Fame West Africa.

He released his debut album in 2011.

The singer co-founded the record label MMMG with Ubi Franklin, the music executive, the same year.

He has carved out a niche for himself in Nigerian music and gained considerable recognition.

In July 2022, Iyanya spoke of how he took a four-year hiatus from music for his mental health.

“I had to shut down. I lost my mind. Mentally, I was gone. If I didn’t, I won’t be here today,” the singer said.

“Ubi Franklin and I made up a long ago but we didn’t say so on social media. The issues that made us fall apart don’t exist anymore.”

In June 2023, Iyanya released a six-track EP titled ‘Love and Trust’.

Kcee, in turn, used to be part of a music duo with his friend Presh.

They played for 12 years until their split in 2011.

The singer later pivoted from secular to gospel music.
