Iyabo Ojo and Comedian Princess have organised a protest against the alleged plan to release Baba Ijesha from police custody.
TheCable Lifestyle had last week reported how the 48-year-old actor was apprehended by the Lagos police for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old girl.
But on Thursday, the actresses were joined by their colleagues from the movie industry as well as other concerned Nigerians for the demonstration which held at the Panti police station in Lagos.
“Enough is enough. They have assured us that they are not going to release him and that’s it. He (Baba Ijesha) molested a minor and some are claiming it’s a bailable offence,” Ojo said during the protest.
Princess, who is the foster mother of the molested child, was also seen breaking down in tears amid the demonstration while others tried to calm her down.
Ojo took to her Instagram page to share a video of herself and others in a hall after the protest. She also vowed to continue the fight against attempts to release their embattled colleague until justice is served.
The protest comes a few hours after it was revealed that Baba Ijesha could be released from police custody on Friday.
A police source had claimed that the CCTV footage which led to the actor’s eventual arrest did not establish that the actor, real name Olarenwaju James, defiled the girl as alleged.
The development also comes about the same time when Ojo released a video of the actor admitting that he indeed molested the minor when she was seven-year-old and 14 respectively after he was caught.
“I want you (Comedian Princess) to forgive me. What I did is very bad. I knew it’s really bad to have molested her. But I’m pleading with you for forgiveness,” he had confessed.
“I don’t have any aim doing it. When you have a spiritual problem, it’s terrible. She (Comedian Princess) knows that I have spiritual problem. The devil simply wanted to use this to destroy me. I have done something really wrong.”
Princess, whose real name is Damilola Adekoya, had earlier bared lurid details of how she caught the actor molesting the minor using CCTV.
Ojo had also earlier blasted Yomi Fabiyi, her colleague, and others calling for more evidence to substantiate the allegation against the movie star.
