The actor, via Twitter on Thursday, said he was commuting with an assistant of his when a road user hit his vehicle.

Deyemi said his assistant got out of the car to seek an audience with the road user who, instead, made a scene.

The actor said the supposed offender raised alarm, causing observers to believe his assistant was a traffic robber.

“Before I could figure [out] what was going on, area boys gathered & started beating my assistant!” the actor said.

“Of course, the area boys, after one of them chopped slap for the stupidity of laying hands on my guy, turned on the guy once I showed up. I now had to choose between payback and de-escalating the situation!

“He was really going to let area boys injure my assistant!

“A part of me actually wished he had tried to fight instead of pleading. I just know someone would have bled!”

Deyemi expressed shock at how close he came to physically hurting the offender and how he reined in his rage.

“Omo, we were raised to value peace but have the training to really cause damage,” the actor added.

“Still shaken up by how close I came to physically hurting another human being this morning! God o me that my career is just starting to make sense pls deliver me from evil!”

Deyemi wouldn’t be the first entertainment personality to get into a confrontation with a road user in Lagos traffic.

In 2021, the singer Ric Hassani recounted how he was robbed by uniformed men who made similar allegations.

“[They] entered my car, rough-handled my manager, collected our phones, almost snatched my car,” Hassani said
