The central working committee (CWC) of the awards released the nominees’ list — which spanned 20 categories — in a recent broadcast.

The annual event is aimed at celebrating the achievements of young Africans who have excelled brilliantly in the past year. This year’s edition will commence with a three-day digital festival slated to hold from November 27 to 29.

In a statement, Bukonla Adebakin, chief operating officer, RED for Africa, said this year’s list includes “extraordinary and impressive” young people under the age of 28 from various fields across Africa.

“From movies to music, governance and fashion, these categories encompass the youngest and brightest minds on the continent who have inspired us all, impacted policies and politics, and are positively bending the course of our societies,” she said.

“It is with such immense hope in the future of our content and recognition of nominees’ achievements that we unveil the class of 2020.”

The statement added that 25 per cent of profits accrued from this year’s edition of the event will be donated to NGOs working to end sexual and gender-based violence in Nigeria.
