A student of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) identified as Gloria Adeleye has passed away after slumping a few days after taking her first-semester examination.

The lady, who is a final-year student of the Department of Animal Science, had finished her exams on April 1, 2021.

She had left the school for her family residence but news of her demise spread throughout the campus a few days after. It was gathered that the 500-level student slumped at home on April 6 and was subsequently rushed to a hospital where she died.

According to PUNCH, Sammy Kpenu, the UNIPORT spokesman, who confirmed the incident, expressed regrets over Adeyele’s death.

He, however, dismissed claims that the deceased had passed away while still on the school campus.

“It is fake. The lady, who put up the post that she died in school, has already apologised to the department, because it caused a lot of problems. The lady had left the school almost a week ago and was in her family house,” he said.

“She finished her exams on April 1 and had been with her family. From what we heard, she just slumped and by the time she was rushed to hospital, she was pronounced dead. It wasn’t anything that had to do with UNIPORT.”
