An unlikely guest had a red carpet moment with global stars and the crème de la crème of Hollywood at the 2023 Met Gala.

The Met Gala is an annual fundraising event for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the grand opening of the costume institute’s annual fashion exhibit.

While some of the global megastars walked the red carpet dressed in elaborate outfits in honour of the Met Gala theme, a cockroach was spotted crawling along the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The insect waltzed in just before Rihanna and A$AP Rocky made their appearance on the red carpet.

The apparently stunned photographers in attendance could not help but take pictures and videos of the moment.

The footage has been shared multiple times on social media.

This year’s event — which is in honour of the life and work of Karl Lagerfeld, the late fashion designer — had star-studded guests like Rihanna, Serena Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Tems, Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade, and Billie Eilish in attendance.

Others include Naomi Campbell, Ice Spice, Taika Waititi, Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie, Keke Palmer, Lily Collins, Kim Kardashian, and Florence Pugh.

TheCable Lifestyle earlier reported that Burna Boy and Tems graced the prestigious fashion event in style.

Burna Boy looked regal in a matching Burberry black and blue checkered outfit with a cape-like extension sweeping behind the star.

Tems, on the other hand, was an avian princess in a Robert Wun-designed dress with its black corset top adorned with feathers alongside a distinct headpiece.

Williams, the tennis legend, also announced her second pregnancy at the 2023 Met Gala.
