The Met Gala is arguably the most anticipated fashion event of the year. The annual event unites the biggest global stars from across the film, television, and music industries.

This year’s event — which is in honour of the life and work of Karl Lagerfeld, the late fashion designer — took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The star-studded guest list had Rihanna, Serena Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Tems, Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade, and Billie Eilish in attendance.

Others include Naomi Campbell, Ice Spice, Taika Waititi, Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie, Keke Palmer, Lily Collins, Kim Kardashian, and Florence Pugh.

The Afrobeats stars were not left behind in the radiance and resplendent that washed through the red carpet on Monday.

Burna Boy looked regal in a matching Burberry black and blue checkered outfit with a cape-like extension sweeping behind the star.

Tems was an avian princess in a Robert Wun-designed dress with its black corset top adorned with feathers alongside a distinct headpiece.

It is understood that this will be the first time Nigerians would be spotted at the prestigious fashion event.

The Met Gala is an annual fundraising event for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the grand opening of the costume institute’s annual fashion exhibit.

The invitation-only fundraiser hosted about 400 guests.
