Chike, the Nigerian singer and songwriter, has put out a new single titled ‘Egwu’.
The musician announced the song’s release via his Instagram page on Friday.
In ‘Egwu’, Chike enlists the vocal dexterity of Mohbad, the late singer.
“I know you have been waiting for this for a while cause I have seen you ask about it continuously,” he wrote.
“I made a ton of music with a great guy, and I am happy I can share the first one with the world.”
The track is a seamless blend of melody and talent from the eastern and western parts of Nigeria.
“Cover face like Lagbaja/ Get fila but we no dey cap/ TikTok boys dem tap tap tap/ Pastor do shira ba ba ba/ Omo jo raba ba ba/ Feeling good paran ran/ Music no need permission to enter your spirit/ Anywhere anyhow you no say you go feel me,” Mohbad sings.
“Awilo Longomba/ Egwu Chiké ato ka kwa Mohbad mi dikwa bad/ I am living like no other/ Egwu anyi ana kwa ajụ kwa ajụ/ Nya bido bawa gi ime/ I no fit talk am you go know/ Feeling good paran ran,” Chike sings.
Chike started his music journey in 2015 when he participated in Project Fame.
He then proceeded to The Voice of Nigeria, a music show, in 2016, where he became first runner-up.
Chike signed with Universal Republic the same year but left the music label in 2017.
He would later join Brothers Records. He released his first studio album titled ‘Boo Of The Booless’ in 2020.
Mohbad, on the other hand, started his music career in 2016 after he became a sensation on social media.
The former artiste with Marlian Records, the label owned by Naira Marley, passed away on September 12.
