Chike, the Nigerian singer and songwriter, has put out a new single titled ‘Ego Oyibo’.
The musician announced the song’s release via his Instagram page with the caption “Na who no hold foreign currency dey fear bride price”.
In Ego Oyibo’, Chike expresses his desire to spend money on his lady.
“You dey obodo oyibo/ baby natazia/ you dey land of oyibo/ baby come back iyoo/ I give your papa my money/ I give your mama my promise/ I am coming before the day go break ah,” he sings in a mix of pidgin and English.
“Na only picture I see/ baby come back to me/ nothing fit distract me for Lagos/ for January I give you my money/ for February I put you my baby/ ejima oh ejima/ my blood dey hot.”
The singer started his music journey in 2015 when he participated in Project Fame.
Chike then proceeded to The Voice of Nigeria, a music show, in 2016, where he became first runner-up.
He signed with Universal Republic the same year and released ‘Fancy U’, his debut single, with the music label.
Chike left Universal Republic in 2017 and subsequently released ‘Beautiful People’ as an independent artiste before he signed with Brothers Records.
He released his first studio album titled ‘Boo Of The Booless’ in 2020.
