Davido, the Afrobeats star, says he performed at the inauguration party of Alex Otti, Abia state governor, for free.

The singer was reacting to an enquiry from a Twitter user about his performance on Monday night.

Otti took his oath of office at midday during the inauguration held at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

The Labour Party (LP) candidate was sworn in by Lilian Abai, the Abia chief judge.

Shortly after the inauguration, the governor hosted an after-party wherein Davido thrilled the crowd.

Reacting to video clips of his performance, the user had asked: “Na free performance?”

In his response, the Afrobeats star said: “Not a dime I’ve known Excellency all my life…and I’m sure he will do well for the people of Abia State.”

The singer has been actively involved in the recent elections. He had also used his social media platforms to solicit support for Ademola Adeleke, his uncle who is now the governor of Osun.
