Davido, the Afrobeats singer, has launched a music and arts faculty at the International University of East Africa in Uganda.

The award-winning singer shared scenes from the unveiling in a series of Instagram posts on Friday.

Davido launched the faculty of music and arts in the university and a hall named after him on March 28.

Davido is currently in Uganda, where he is expected to perform at the Kololo Independence Grounds.

In 2018, the singer donated $5,000 to a music school in Rwanda.

“Visited a music school in Rwanda today, the beautiful bright spirit of the people I met there motivated me to donate to their future,” he had said.

In 2012, Davido rose to prominence following the release of ‘Dami Duro’, his hit song.

The ‘Assurance’ hitmaker released ‘Timeless’, his fourth album, on March 31, 2023.

On April 10, the album secured the 37th spot on the United States Billboard 200 chart.

‘Timeless’ surpassed one billion streams across major platforms on August 3.

The singer recently earned his first-ever Grammy nomination in three categories for the album.

His three other bodies of works are ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ (2012), ‘A Good Time’ (2019), and ‘A Better Time‘ (2020).

With a slew of awards and accolades, Davido has firmly established himself as one of the prominent names in the African music industry.
