In a recent interview with Kiss FM UK, Davido said he saw Rema recently and told him he is proud of him.

The OBO crooner also recalled the first time he met Rema in 2018 when D’Prince brought him to his house.

He said the Mavin Records artiste was shy and quiet during the visitation, adding that who would have thought ‘Calm Down’ would be the “highest Afrobeats charting song ever.”

“I saw Rema in New York two days ago and I hugged him, I was like I’m so proud of you,” he said.

“Because I remember like him coming over to my house like with D’Prince back then and just like chilling, quiet in my living room, didn’t say a word, not knowing like yo, he’s going to have like highest Afrobeats charting song ever with ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez and you know, it’s crazy.”

Davido also described Rema’s success as nothing short of miracles, considering his humble beginnings in Benin.

“You know, just a kid from Benin and then you see that happen like, it makes you believe in miracles,” he added.

On April 11, Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ became the second longest-charting no 1 African song in India.

With 433 million views — as of April 14 — the visuals of the song is the most-viewed Nigerian music video on YouTube.

Davido’s praises for Rema come a few days after the ‘Calm Down’ crooner denied rumour of a rift between them.
