In a chat with Ebro on HOT 97FM, a US-based radio station, Rema said the rumour was the handiwork of fans.

In 2020, the Mavin Records signee was rumoured to have had a rift with Davido after he went on a Twitter spree.

Although he didn’t mention names, the singer hit out at “niggas who label my music rubbish”.

He also claimed some industry giants called him “disrespectful” for not “alerting them” before dropping songs.

In an apparent response to Rema, Davido said “It’s unfair” for the Marvin singer to assume people don’t believe in him.

Speaking on the matter in the interview, Rema said he has never had any altercation with any artiste.

“That was a rumour. From day one, I never had any problem with any artiste. I would say I have so much respect even for the OGs. I look for no one’s trouble. I just want to make good music,” he said.

“I am an introvert. I stay indoors. I am not causing any trouble. I don’t want to fight.

“One thing about Afrobeats is that we’ve tried to promote peace among each other. Yeah, we have got our egos and our achievements. Everybody got their own money, paychecks.

“But you know one thing I noticed is our unity has kept us going for a very long time. Even when the fans want to spark stuff up. They really are the ones that would have been starting this stuff.”

The singer also frowned at musicians who do not curb the excesses of their fans.

“One thing I actually respect is people who call on their fans when they see them moving mad. I do that,” he added.

“But sometimes I feel really bad when I don’t see my brothers doing the same because he feels like they’re enjoying the comparison.

“I feel like it’s somewhat disrespectful. This music success thing is a circle. You may be enjoying the bant because you are up. But when I get to the top and the fans want to retaliate, I won’t stop them.

“Wherever anybody finds themselves up or bottom, keep your fans as humble as you are.”
