In a recent interview, Davido said he has been a fan of Asake and wanted him to be on his album.

He said he first contacted his friend and colleague Olamide, who then helped him get in touch with Asake.

Davido added that despite some delays due to Asake’s touring schedule, the collaboration came together.

“Shout-out to Asake. I’m a very big fan of him and his story and just the way he just came out and just scattered everywhere,” he said.

“I was like, ‘Ah I have to get him on my album’. With just his style and everything, I just wanted to work with him.

“So, I dm the boss man Badoo. I didn’t write Asake first o. I went to my brother first.

“So, I wrote Olamide. I was like Badoo, ‘I’m doing my album I need Asake on a verse o’.

“I didn’t even think Asake would give anybody a verse, so Badoo was just like, ‘send the song’.

“So I sent the song to Badoo’s WhatsApp.

“I think, then Badoo after like a week he was on tour. Funny enough, Asake loves recording when Badoo is there.

“So we were waiting for Asake to get back to Nigeria and, at this time, I’m in America.

“After that, Asake sent the verse. It was fire.”

Since then, the body of work has raked in millions of streams across music platforms.
