On Monday, Abiola shared two skits on his Instagram page, wherein he could be seen wearing a police uniform and begging for money.

In response to his videos, the police issued a statement on Thursday condemning his actions as “disrespectful and offensive.”

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesperson, said the force had previously warned skit makers and filmmakers against any form of mockery or disrespect towards their uniform.

According to the statement, Abiola will be subjected to investigation and possible prosecution for his actions.

“The skits in question show a highly disrespectful and derogatory portrayal of the police uniform,” the statement read in parts.

“Abdulgafar Abiola will be investigated and possibly prosecuted for his deliberate acts as the NPF had already warned skit makers and filmmakers to desist from desecrating its uniform or accoutrements.”

Reacting to the police’s threat in an Instagram post, the skit maker shared a “laughing gif”.

In 2021, Cute Abiola was detained for violating the social media policy of the Nigerian navy. He was released after serving punishments.

In November 2022, Abiola announced his departure from the navy after being appointed as an aide to the Kwara governor on creative industries.
