On Friday, Burna Boy unveiled ‘Big 7’ alongside the song’s visuals.

In the song, the ‘African Giant’ hitmaker paid tribute to Virgil Abloh, the late American designer, and urged people to think of their legacy.

But on Sunday, Chart Data revealed that the singer has broken the opening day record by an African artiste on Spotify with his latest single.

It added that ‘Big 7’ is the biggest streaming debut for a solo song by an African artiste in Spotify’s history.

“@burnaboy’s “Big 7″ earns the biggest streaming debut for a solo song by an African artist in Spotify history,” the tweet reads.

The accomplishment follows his recent sold-out concert at a 41,000-capacity stadium in the United States.

The music star was also recently announced as the first African artiste to hit one billion Audiomack streams.

With strings of awards and honorary mentions, Burna Boy has continued to establish himself as one of the prominent figures in the Nigerian music landscape.

In 2021, his fifth album ‘Twice As Tall’ won the ‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammy Awards.

He also recently performed at the 2023 UEFA Champions League (UCL) final.
