Abovi Ugboma, Nigerian comedian and actor better known as Bovi, has sparked a flurry of reactions on social media following the prank calls he pulled on a few of his “loyal” friends.

The ace comedian turns 40 on September 25, and to celebrate the milestone, he colluded with Kris Ugboma, his wife, to prank some of his “devoted” friends in the most ridiculous ways.

Bovi also took to his social media pages to share videos of the prank calls put through to his loyal friends.

In the videos, Kris calls a friend of Bovi’s to ask of her husband’s whereabouts. She claims Bovi had told her before he left the house, he will be with the friend and she has tried to reach him several times but he is not picking his calls. She does all these while Bovi listens to the conversations.

In both videos, Bovi’s friends cover for him and also call Bovi to hatch out corroborative stories to relay to his wife.

These humorous videos have provoked a frenzy of reactions on social media platforms especially Twitter.

Quite a number of users, especially men, have “jokingly” registered their feeling of betrayal towards the comedian for breaking the Bro Code — a friendship etiquette to be followed among men or, more specifically, among members of the bro subculture.

Others are of the opinion, the pranks might come back to haunt him in the future.

“Bovi just broke the bro-code. Why do you have to cast our matters like this Bovi? Why,” a Twitter user asked.

“Bovi has desecrated the Continental grounds. You don’t conduct business in the premises by joking with critically sensitive sanctuary code preserved by men of honour for aeons. You are hereby excommunicated effective immediately. Signed— League Of Extra Ordinary Gentlemen,” another user said.
