‘Gelato’ is a popular low-fat frozen dessert of Italian origin but has become an increasingly popular phrase among young Nigerians, with much of the credits to Florence Otedola, a disc jockey better known as DJ Cuppy, who had released a song using the phrase.

DJ Cuppy, daughter of Femi Otedola, another billionaire businessman and friend to Dangote, had teamed up with Zlatan Ibile, a street music crooner, for ‘Gelato’ in August.

The song scaled up to number 3 on the Apple Music chart within a day of release; caused a frenzy among Nigerians on social media; and topped playlist in clubs, radio stations, and occasions across the country.

In July, the talented DJ also shared a video where she and her dad can be seen enjoying some ice-cream on the streets of Italy.

In the video, she said they were in Italy for a few hours just to get the tasty ‘Gelato’.
