FoodBay TV has announced the fifth season of Street Foodz Naija, a docu-reality cooking series that celebrates Nigerian street food.

In a statement shared with TheCable Lifestyle on Monday, the organisers revealed that the upcoming season, themed ‘Love and Street Food’ will be presented in collaboration with the Lagos state ministry of youth and social development.

“This season, in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, promises to be a remarkable journey through the heart of Nigerian cuisine,” it reads in part.

“Theme: “Love and Street Food” Our theme for this year, “Love and Street Food,” encapsulates the profound connection between culinary traditions and human relationships.”

The statement added that the grand prize for this season’s winner is N10 million, along with scholarships and other rewards for the 14 contestants.

“The ultimate winner of Street Foodz Naija Season 5 will receive a cash prize of N10,000,000,” it reads.

“This prize is intended to provide a significant boost to the winner’s culinary career, offering them the opportunity to further their passion and continue making an impact in the food industry.

“In addition to the grand prize, 14 contestants will receive scholarships from the Hospitality Business School (HBS), SME toolkit, and other valuable consolation prizes.”

The new season will feature diverse contestants, heartwarming stories, and intense culinary challenges while celebrating Nigeria’s rich food culture.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, Femi Ogundoro, CEO of Maxima Media Group, owners of FoodBay TV, announced the opening of entries for this year’s edition.

Ogundoro also disclosed that entries close on September 23 while the main event kicks off in October. He said the grand finale will be held on November 16.

The judges for this season are food blogger Chef Tolani, Chinonso ‘Aproko Doctor’ Egemba, and food consultant Opeyemi Famakin while the host is influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa.

To apply, street food vendors are asked to make a video telling the organisers why they deserve to be on the show.

Videos should be sent to 09128365311 via WhatsApp or posted on social media tagging @streetfoodznaija and @foodbaytv and using #streetfoodznaijaS5 and #streetfoodznaijaentry hashtags.
