According to Vogue, a US-based celebrity magazine, Jolie said she took the right decision especially in the interest of her “six very brave” children.

“I separated for the well-being of my family. It was the right decision. I continue to focus on their healing,” she said on Friday.

“Some have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and their own minds.”

The ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ star also recounted her initial fears about adopting her eldest sons — Maddox and Pax — due to what she referred to as their “complex history”.

She, however, expressed her joy for eventually adopting the children who are from Cambodia and Vietnam — two nations known for their frosty relationships in the past.

“I thought of my own country and our involvement in Southeast Asia. I thought of focusing on a future where we were all family. I am very blessed to have been allowed to be their mum. I am grateful every day,” she added.

The 45-year-old movie star also narrated the sweet-bitter experience that comes with grooming children from biological and adoptive backgrounds.

“All adopted children come with a beautiful mystery of a world that is meeting yours,” she said.

They former lovebirds had tied the knot in 2014 at a decorated ceremony in France after they first met in 2005.

In September 2016, about two years after their marriage, the actress had filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
