Aisha Achimugu, Abuja entrepreneur, has reacted to the criticism trailing her seven-day luxury carnival in Grenada.

Achimugu was recently at the centre of media discourse after hosting a seven-day party in the Caribbean Island of Grenada.

The party, which was to mark her 50th birthday, was packed with festivities that took place between Calivigny Island and Silversand, an intimate luxury resort.

It generated public criticism after public officeholders, including Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos governor, left Nigeria to attend.

The festivities commenced on January 16 with the arrival of guests and ended on January 23 with a luxurious dinner.

A report had it that  Sanwo-Olu left on the 17th to attend the carnival, joined on the 18th, and remained there until January 23rd.

As media discourse criticised the governor for “abandoning” his leadership duties, Sanwo-Olu tweeted.

He stated that he had travelled on purpose to Grenada to advance his state’s economic interests.

The criticism also extended to social media where many Nigerians weighed in on the discourse.

Achimugu, in a voice recording received by TheCable, reacted to the matter.

“I want to congratulate myself for being the most popular in the news, apart from the Gaza-Israeli fight,” she said.

“For those who have shown concern, I’m well and in high spirits. I’m doing what makes me happy.

“I want to show you all that this girl is moving ahead. For those who are genuinely not concerned, I love you all. I will continue to do me and I’m unapologetic about it. They’re going to be hearing more of me.

“I’ve not been a media person but, since they’ve made it a duty for me to do that, you would see more of me.

“I will give them more to talk about.”
