Yul Edochie, the actor and politician, has taken a swipe at the youths mocking the outfit Kashim Shettima wore to the 2022 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference.

On Monday, the former governor of Borno represented Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the annual conference held at the Eko Atlantic City.

Shettima graced the conference in a suit, tie, and a pair of sneakers.

But his outfit stirred an avalanche of mixed reactions on social media, especially on Twitter.

The outfit of the APC vice-presidential candidate also inspired the now-viral #ShettimaChallenge.

Some Twitter users joined the challenge to justify the ex-governor’s fashion sense while others appeared to be mocking him.

Reacting to the now-viral challenge, the film star tackled youths in the country for “prioritising trivialities”.

The actor also argued that the focus should be on the competence of who becomes the country’s next president, not outfit.

“Nigerians & misplaced priorities. They’ll never trend important issues, only frivolities. Who cares about Shettima’s dressing?” he asked.

“If the next President of Nigeria can fix the country, secure it and make Nigeria work. He can be wearing only boxers and singlet to work. Who cares?

“Now I’m seeing Shettima challenge everywhere. People wearing suit & sneakers. Nigerian youths. Trivialities all the time. Why can’t you do Peter Obi challenge? Challenge yourselves to be educated like Peter, to speak and be intelligent like Peter. Una no go see that one do.”
