Will Smith: How my mum caught me having sex at 16

Will Smith, the US actor, says Caroline Bright, his mum, once caught him having sex with his ex-girlfriend.

The Hollywood star, in his self-titled memoir, revealed some of his personal memories and teenage experiences.

He said he was 16 and dating Melanie Parker, a high school friend he fell in love with.

Smith said Parker lived with his family because her own mother was imprisoned.

According to the actor, Parker was thereafter sent to live with an aunt after they were both caught having sex in the kitchen.

“She flipped the light switch as she had done tens of thousands of times before. But this time, her eyes landed upon her eldest son and his girlfriend deep in throes of reckless lovemaking,” Smith’s memoir read.

“As a teenager, outside of physical injury, you cannot feel worse than having your mother catch you and your girlfriend doggy-style on her kitchen floor.

“I’m still not exactly sure why I did what I did that night. To this day, I have no idea what I was thinking.

“Of all the experiences I am sharing in this book, this is the individual moment of personal behavior that makes the least sense to me.”

Smith said they had continued to date but the relationship ended when he learned that Parker had cheated on him.

Earlier, the actor had opened up about the complicated relationship he shared with William Smith, his late father.

He said he once contemplated killing his late dad to avenge alleged abuse suffered by his mother.

The actor married Sheree Zampino in 1992 and had his first son, Trey, with her.

Smith and Zampino divorced in 1995, and he married Jada Pinkett Smith two years later, in 1997.

The union has been blessed with two children: Jaden, aged 23, and Willow, 21.
