Kanye West, American rapper, appeared to have sampled ‘If’, a song by Davido, Nigerian Afropop singer, during a live gospel performance with his choir team.

In the now viral video, the award-winning rapper, clad in a blue shirt, can be seen squatting intermittently and moving to the rhythm of the performance from his choir.

The performance was typical of Davido’s lyrics in ‘If’ in which he used lines such as “I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.”

The choir band were seen chorusing “‘we love you, we love you, we love you, we love you, we love you, we love you,” in return to West.

The live performance, however, differs in focus from the Afrobeat star’s ‘If’. While Davido’s song, which was first released in February 2017, revolves around his admiration for a lady, West centers the performance on his love for God.

‘If’ has enjoyed significant acceptance among fans since it was released. It was included on Davido’s ‘A Good Time’ album.

The song also clinched the ‘Best Pop Single and Song of the Year’ at The Headies 2018 edition.

The development also comes a week after Cardi B, American rapper and TV personality, teased a new remix of ‘Fall’, one of Davido’s hit songs.
