The controversial Nigerian singer, on Friday night, was at the Lagos church for a pre-announced performance.

Last month, the Celestial church was heavily criticised after Portable and Pasuma were announced as the headliners for its praise night.

The event was scheduled to be held on December 15.

Portable revealed that he had received N5 million from the church and insisted that he would perform.

A video showing the singer performing at the church’s praise night surfaced on social media on Saturday.

In the footage, the singer could be seen arriving at the venue, dressed in an all-white outfit.

In the heat of the controversy, Aderemi Dabiri, founder of the church had previously said that he invited Pasuma and Portable to the event to win souls for Christ.

Dabiri said the decision to have the artistes perform was a strategic move to attract “unbelievers”.

He argued that he had previously welcomed several new members with this evangelism style.

The cleric said he prefers secular musicians over gospel artistes because they are “more respectful”.

“It is not our first time inviting guest artistes,” the cleric had said.

“We have been doing it without a problem and I can give you a series of instances.

“We will tell Portable not to dye his hair and he should not sing vulgar songs but to sing gospel music.

“We will also caution him not to dress inappropriately or climb the speakers.”
