Naira Marley, Nigerian singer, will on Wednesday know his fate as the Lagos police authorities prepare to arraign him before a court for flouting the state’s lockdown directive alongside Funke Akindele, an actress.

On Monday, Akindele was arraigned and sentenced to 14-day community service with N100,000 fine after she hosted a party at her Lagos home, despite the state’s social distancing directives.

Video clips from the party, which happened to be her husband’s birthday, had circulated on social media on Sunday. Marley was one of the guests.

Following the threat from the police to declare him wanted if he failed to turn himself in, the ‘Tingasa’ crooner had surrendered himself at the state’s criminal investigation department, Panti, Yaba.

On Tuesday, Bala Elkana, the state’s police public relations officer, told TheCable Lifestyle that Marley will be arraigned before a magistrate court on Wednesday.

He said the singer’s arraignment didn’t hold on Tuesday because the court wasn’t in session for the day.

“The court is not sitting today and we don’t want to announce the arraignment date on the news. But he would be charged once the court is in session. They would be in court tomorrow,” Elkana said.

The police PRO also disclosed that the command has launched a manhunt for the remaining persons who attended Akindele’s house party.
