TheCable Lifestyle had reported how the deceased, a recent graduate of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), was found dead  — few days after she was declared missing.

The state police command would thereafter apprehend Uduak Frank Akpan, a 20-year-old man for “kidnapping, countlessly raping, and then killing the victim”.

According to the police, the suspected killer was said to have first buried the deceased in a shallow grave and fled.

In several video clips and photos, friends and family gathered to pay their last respect to the deceased on Friday.

Clad in black attires, many of them were seen crying uncontrollably as the casket containing Umoren’s body is being covered with sand.

In a Twitter post, Umoh Uduak, the deceased’s friend, said she never envisaged losing her colleague in such a “horrible” way.

“Guy, I have never thought of a day that I would bid you farewell but It saddens my heart that I have to do that today. You’ll forever be in my heart. Farewell! And for those that committed such horrible things to you, God will not let them go unpunished. #JusticeforHinyHumoren,” she wrote.
