Whitney Adeniran, a student of Chrisland High School in Ikeja who died on February 9, has finally been laid to rest.

The 12-year-old student died during the school’s inter-house sports activities at Agege Stadium in Lagos.

Blessing Adeniran, her mother, had accused Chrisland of negligence over her death.

The school’s management, however, dismissed insinuations that there was foul play in the death case while citing that she slumped in public.

Chrisland also argued that Whitney complained about “not-too-buoyant health” a few days before she died.

Tears flowed as Whitney was buried on Thursday. The burial ceremony was attended by family members and friends.

In a now-viral video, Blessing broke down in tears while demanding to see her daughter.

Earlier in the day, the mother had claimed an autopsy revealed her daughter was electrocuted.

“Autopsy result is out and Desola was electrocuted. My daughter died of electrocution,” she said.

“I have been subjected to trauma for the past two weeks, tomorrow will make it three weeks my baby died. This school made me think I was crazy.”

“If you were paid to bully me, to insult my family, if you were paid to insult me, to kick me at my lowest, may God judge you!

“With pain in my heart, with tears in my eyes on the grave of my daughter, may God in his anger judge you. My child was electrocuted to death.”

The Lagos education ministry had earlier ordered a temporary closure of the school, pending an investigation into the matter.

Also ordering an inquest into Whitney’s death, the Lagos government cited the need for a “thorough” probe.
