On Friday, ‘I Told Them’, the singer’s recently released album, scored the top spot on the UK Official Albums Chart.

The British music data platform said Burna Boy is now the first ever international Afrobeats star to secure a UK no 1 album.

Burna Boy took to social media to extend appreciation to “everyone that has been supporting the movement”.

He also expressed gratitude to all the other artistes who featured on the album.

“I want to thank everyone who bought an album. For everyone that has been supporting the movement from the beginning, this is for you,” the singer said

“This is for where I am coming from, for all my people and for everyone that is going to get this after me, I appreciate you.

“Thank you to my management, thank you to my band, to every producer, every artiste on the album.
