Tributes have begun to pour in for Ange Didier Huon, Ivorian disc jockey and singer, who lost his life in a motorbike accident.

According to the state broadcaster RTI, the award-winning singer fractured his skull after a collision between his motorcycle and a car on Sunday in Abidjan. He was admitted into a hospital in the city.

The 33-year-old died in the early hours of Monday.

Celebrities and fans alike have taken to Twitter to pay their last respects to the “King of Coupé-Décalé”, a music genre he created.

“RIP DJ Arafat. Africa has lost a legend,” said Yemi Alade.

“RIP yorobo, I love you,” said Davido.

“Where do you start on DJ Arafat’s impact on Ivorian music and African pop culture? From the sound, to the dance-steps, to the use of social media, to how he deeply connected with the masses. But first of all, is he really dead? I’m in denial,” a Twitter user wrote.
