The media personality, 35, took to her Instagram story on Wednesday to confess that she loves love, and she is hoping that it loves her back someday.

“No matter what life has thrown at me, I am still a ‘hopeless romantic.’ I cannot wait to fall hopelessly and madly in love. I love love. Hopefully it loves me back, someday,” she wrote.

In 2014, Makinwa had married Maje Ayida, a friend whom she had been dating for close to eight years, but separated from him after discovering he had impregnated his ex-girlfriend.

While the divorce was sealed by a Lagos high court on October 5, 2017, on the grounds that Ayida committed adultery, the author would later wish she could reverse her decision on getting married.

Describing African parents as the worst of their kind, Makinwa once narrated how the mother of a partner she dated prayed she would leave her son.

“All the guys I’ve dated, I don’t think their mums liked me. I don’t know what I did. I’ve dated someone whose mother always prayed for me to find my own husband (not her son),” Toke said.

“As I was dating her son, she’ll tell me: ‘God will provide your own husband.’ I was like, ‘Mummy, but I’ve been with your son.’ And she’ll say it again. I honestly moved on.”
