Teni Apata, popular Nigerian singer, has taken to social media to register her chagrin against service providers and financial institutions who, she said, charged Nigerians heftily for almost any reason.

Using the hashtag #EndCrazyCharges, the ‘Uyo Meyo’ singer expressed her frustration over the crazy charges she has been receiving in one of her bank accounts.

What is it with all these charges? Any small thing they will just be charging person anyhow. Internet, Cable TV, Simple Transfer of my own money sef! See, this matter don tire me abeg. Make una #EndCrazyCharges,” she wrote on Twitter

In a video that accompanied her protest on Instagram, Teni is seen shedding more light on how she lost N800 to charges on one of her bank accounts.

“I’m not happy this afternoon, I’m sad, I checked one of my accounts and the money there is not complete, last week, the money there was N15,287, I checked and wrote it down, this week, the money is N14,437. How did N800 find wings and fly away?,” she asked.

“They say they are charging me. If I send money to this one, they will charge me, if I send money to that one, they will charge me. They are even charging me for maintenance of my own debit card.”

Nigerians have joined the hashtag to register their displeasure at the exorbitant charges by some banks, energy distribution companies, network providers and so on.
