Olumide Aderinokun is now the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ogun central senatorial district in the 2023 general election.
Aderinokun secured a win on Monday evening in the senatorial primary election.
The election took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo presidential library in Abeokuta.
It was monitored by the PDP national electoral delegation and the Independent Electoral Commission.
Aderinokun, who is the husband of the actress Stephanie Cocker, vied against two aspirants, namely Dada Oduntan and Olumide Jones.
The property developer polled 214 votes from 216 accredited delegates in the election.
After the polls, he expressed his gratitude to the delegates in Ogun central senatorial district for their support.
Aderinokun also described the results as a reflection of the sacrifices he made through community projects since 2019.
“Today’s victory is like a semi-final and I’m looking forward to the final with a lot of confidence in the 2023 elections,” he said.
“I have started my preparation for the Senatorial seat since 2019 with my service to the people through my foundation and by God’s grace, I will get to the Senate and I’m ready to work with the next governor of Ogun State who will be Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, by God’s grace.”
With his latest win, it is now up to Aderinokun to return the PDP back to the senate for the first since 2011.
Coker and Aderinokun tied the knot in 2017. They welcomed their first child together in 2019.
