In a recent chat with HipTV, the rapper said he only recently became acquainted with Burna Boy but discovered that the singer had been active in the music industry for many years.

Darlington said he first heard the name Burna Boy in 2017, thanks to a music video where the ‘African Giant’ referenced his slogan.

He added that he initially assumed Burna Boy “was an American artiste” but eventually felt the need to inquire about him to avoid appearing ignorant.

“I heard the name Burna Boy not too long ago but I have come to realise that he has been putting in work for years, it is just that the industry did not recognise him,” he said.

“But I heard the name Burna Boy 2017, 2018. There was a video he made and he was basically giving me a hint, he was singing my slogan, ‘when I take a step you hear bang’.

“So the video somehow found me. First of all, I thought he was an American artiste. I had no idea who he was and then people kept talking about Burna Boy.

“So to avoid sounding mumu, I actually had to ask somebody, who is Burna Boy?”

Darlington has consistently attracted attention due to his penchant for controversies.

In 2017, he released his debut single, ‘Bang Da Dadang.’
