Falz’s disclosure, however, attracted mixed reactions on social media. While some users criticised him for travelling abroad for knee surgery, others defended the rapper.

Joining the fray, Bashir El-Rufai, the son of the Kaduna state governor, taunted Falz, saying he expected the singer to have had his surgery in a Nigerian hospital.

He added that he was “disappointed” Falz did not go to the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) as a “bona-fide human rights activist”.

The rapper, however, fired back at his critics, saying: “So pathetic these people are trying soo hard to latch on to this knee surgery gist. Eyahhh. Na so una dey desperate for ammunition.”
