Bashir El-Rufai, the son of the Kaduna state governor, has taunted Falz, the rapper, for travelling to the United Kingdom for knee surgery.

On Wednesday, Falz disclosed that he sustained an injury on his anterior cruciate ligament while playing football in November 2022.

The rapper added that he underwent surgery on May 2, 2023, at a medical facility in London.

Reacting to Falz’s disclosure via his Twitter handle on Thursday, Bashir said he expected the singer to have had his surgery in a Nigerian hospital.

He added that he was “disappointed” Falz did not go to the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) as a “bona-fide human rights activist”.

“UK? He didn’t go to LASUTH as a bona-fide human rights activist? Disappointing,” he wrote.

Falz is very passionate about good government and ensuring that Nigerians understand and exercise their basic human rights.

He was one of the youths who kicked off the #EndSARS protest in October 2020. He is also known to advocate for human rights through his music.

Falz, who is a lawyer, activist, and rapper, earlier charged Nigerians to get their voters card and elect the right leaders — in the build-up to the 2023 general election.

The singer also said the country needs a general overhaul across all its spheres.
