Tony, Chris Rock’s brother, has dissed Will Smith, the actor, over the infamous slap at the Oscars.
Smith had slapped Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett while presenting an award.
Rock had, in his joke, mocked Pinkett’s shaved head which the latter said was due to alopecia, a hair loss condition.
Smith’s response received mixed reactions from Hollywood stakeholders, some of whom condemned the assault.
Many critics also called for his sanction while the actor faced possible expulsion or suspension over the issue.
However, Smith would instead resign from the Academy after describing his own conduct as “inexcusable”.
A video of Tony on stage during his set surfaced on Saturday and the actor is heard spewing some expletives.
Making known his displeasure with Smith, Tony said Smith slapped his brother because Pinkett side-eyed him.
Smith had earlier taken to his Instagram page to apologise to Rock who has, since, not acknowledged the gesture.
“Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally. I was out of line and I was wrong,” the Hollywood actor admitted.
“I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
