The organisers of Afro Nation, the largest Afrobeats festival in the world, have officially announced the date and venue for its first ever concert in Nigeria.

Afro Nation is an annual event celebrating Africans in the diaspora. The festival is widely regarded as one of the biggest music concerts in the world.

The organisers said the two-day festival would be held at the Tafawa Balewa Square between December 19 and 20.

Afro Nation also described Lagos as the “home of Afrobeats festival”.

“ANN2023 dates are here! Your December just got a lot more Detty!,” the organisers wrote on Instagram.

“December 19th & 20th, Tafawa Balewa Square, The world’s biggest Afrobeats festival is coming home to Lagos! Where it all began!”

Tickets for the festival will go on sale from Thursday, September 7.

The Afro Nation festival debuted four years ago in Portugal. It has since been expanding around the world with a hugely successful US debut in Miami in May.

The festival was founded by Obi Asika and Smade, in association with BBC 1 Xtra. It is produced by Live Nation, Event Horizon, Smade Entertainment, and Memories of Tomorrow.
