Cornell Haynes Jr., the US rapper better known as Nelly, and Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, the songstress, are reportedly expecting their first child together.
According to Us Weekly, Ashanti is pregnant with her first child. This was after she rekindled her relationship with Nelly.
The news outlet also quoted a source to have said that “Nelly and Ashanti are welcoming their first baby together”.
The rumours first began over the weekend when Ashanti and Nelly attended an event together.
At the event, Ashanti and Nelly were captured on camera playfully caressing her stomach.
If the speculations are true, the baby will be Ashanti’s only child.
Nelly, on the other hand, already shares daughter Chanelle, 29, and son Cornell Haynes III, 24, with ex-lover Channetta Valentine.
Nelly, 49, and Ashanti, 43, have a long history together.
The pair met at the 2003 Grammy Awards announcement event. They dated on and off for about 10 years before breaking up in 2013.
The music collaborators have been seen at events together repeatedly in the past years without addressing their relationship status.
But in September, Nelly spoke about the couple’s rekindled relationship when he was featured on ‘Boss Moves with Rasheeda,‘ a TV show.
“Yeah, we cool again,” he said.
“I think it surprised both of us, though. It wasn’t anything that …[was] planned. I think we’re both pretty much doing what we do.”
On the red carpet at the 2023 MTV VMAs, Ashanti also told E! that the pair have reunited.
Ashanti also featured in Nelly’s 2008 hit song ‘Body On Me’.
