On Saturday, TheCable reported how the farmers were beheaded in Kwashabe village, about 20 kilometers north of Maiduguri, after the insurgents initially approached them “in disguise” for food.

Reacting to the tragedy, Buhari had called the killings “senseless”, adding that the government had given support to the armed forces “to take all necessary steps to protect the country’s population and its territory.”

As photos of the farmers’ corpses surfaced online, Macaroni took to his Twitter page to pour out his annoyance at the president.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, he also lamented that Nigerians still have to put up with the insecurity in the north amid the ongoing outcry against “brutality” by security operatives.

The comedian, whose real name is Debo Adebayo, also urged Buhari to resign if his government “cannot guarantee the safety of citizens.”

“Boko Haram beheads 43 farmers in Zabarmari, Borno State. We are either being killed by terrorists or by security operatives. Either way, the country isn’t safe. Where is the government when you need them?” Mr. Macaroni asked.

“Oh, I forgot! They are busy oppressing Nigerian youths. We won’t keep quiet while our Northern brothers and sisters are being massacred because of the obvious irresponsibility of the government.

“We are first Nigerians before tribe or religion! If President Buhari cannot guarantee the safety of citizens, he should resign!

“This image is scary. Just as Nigeria is right now. We should set aside tribal differences. We can’t fight evil with hate in our hearts. The level of insecurity in the country is at the highest right now!
