Iyanya Mbuk’s relationship with Mavin Records is reportedly not as smooth as it was in 2016 when he joined the Don Jazzy-led outfit.

Despite reports suggesting that there’s an acrimony of sorts between the singer and Mavin, the record label has refused to react while Temple Management Company, who oversees Iyanya’s affairs, has also failed to address the matter.

Mavin’s administrative manager, Tega, failed to speak on the issue when TheCable Lifestyle reached out to him.

Tega said the terms of his employment “doesn’t allow me to react to stuff in the news”.

Despite promising to send the contact details of a media person who can speak on the matter, he failed to do so. Subsequent calls and text messages put across to him did not achieve the desired effect.

‘Holy Water’ getting a push

In the midst of the swirling rumours of a potential parting of ways, Mavin Records and Don Jazzy have been promoting ‘Holy Water’, Iyanya’s latest single, on social media.

Iyanya, who is presently on vacation in the US, did not promote on his social media pages, any recent release by Mavin artistes; Tiwa Savage and Johnny Drille.

When TheCable Lifestyle contacted his manager, representing TMC, she said the report of a rift between Iyanya and Mavin is fake news.

When asked to confirm the incident, she asked: “Do you really think that I am going to answer that question? Why can’t you ask about his music? Fake news is not valid.

“You should ask about his new music, he just dropped a new music and it is fire. Or is that not story enough for you guys?

“I am not answering that question. It is fake news first of all, and we are focused more on music. He is a music maker and not a propaganda person. So we don’t do propaganda, we are making music.”

Iyanya’s romance with Mavin

Iyanya joined Mavin Records in October 2016 after severing ties with Made Men Music Group (MMMG), his record label of four years.

At the time, the singer said he made the move in order to become a better singer and to work with ace producer Don Jazzy.

Since joining Mavin, Iyanya has released an EP entitled ‘Signature’. On the eight-track EP are some of his recent hit songs; ‘Up 2 Something’ and ‘Hold On’.
