Bolanle Austen-Peters’ ‘Man of God’ and Kunle Afolayan’s ‘Swallow’ were among the winners at the 2022 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
The 18th edition of the annual awards held at the Jewel Aeida Hall in Lekki, Lagos state, on Sunday.
‘Man of God’ and ‘Swallow’ won two categories each as movies from Nigeria had the highest wins.
Nigerian films led with a total of eight awards. Tanzania and South Africa occupied the second spot as ‘Tug of War’ and ‘Surviving Gaza’ snagged four awards each.
Ghana came third as ‘Borga,’ a film shot by a German director in the country, clinched three awards.
Funnybone, Chigul, and Kachi Offia hosted this year’s edition of the award, which celebrates excellence in the African movie industry.
