American singer, Mary J. Blige, has been ordered to pay $30,000 (N10,860,000) monthly spousal support to estranged husband, Martin Isaacs.

According to TMZ, the amount was $100,000 shy of the $130,000 he originally sought from the singer.

The judge also ordered Blige to pay retroactive support dating back to September and his lawyer’s fees, which amounts to $235, 000.

The court was said to have ruled that Isaacs was entitled to the monthly support “to accommodate the standard of living he was used to while married to Mary”.

After 12 years of marriage, the singer filed for divorce from Isaacs in 2016.

During a radio interview with Angie Martinez earlier this year, Blige explained what led to her filing for divorce.

“You start to realize that this man doesn’t want you and he’s just gone all the time and you’re by yourself in the relationship,” she had said.

“When you realize you’re by yourself and you’re just suffering through it, now it’s time to do some investigating. When I got the full proof, I didn’t have to investigate it. It just showed up.”

Blige had been reluctant to pay the spousal support, claiming that Isaacs, her former manager, was spending the money on his girlfriend, singer, LaNeah Menzies, whose stage name is Starshell.

The singer was signed by Blige to her Matriarch Entertainment record label.
