The movie director gave his two cents to intending couples in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
Chikere said before people go into marriage, they should discuss several issues such as religion, parenting styles, financial expectations, careers and education among others.
According to him, people should ditch the age-old mindset that love is the only major thing needed to keep a marriage.
“Before you get married… discuss bills, parenting styles, credit, debt, religion, how to deal with family, what beliefs will be instilled in your children, childhood traumas, sexual expectations…” he wrote.
He said other things to be considered include partners’ financial expectations, family health history, mental health history, bucket list, dream home, careers and education, political views, and “whatever else comes to mind.”
Chikere’s comment comes amid rumours that he is no longer with Nuella Njubigbo, his estranged wife who is an actress.
The pair tied the knot at a decorated wedding in March 2014. The union has been blessed with a child.
But the marriage was in the news in May last year after they unfollowed each other on Instagram.
The divorce rumours thickened when Nuella removed the filmmaker’s name from her Instagram bio.
