Davido, the singer, says he met Chioma Rowland, his wife, before he became wealthy and famous.

Davido spoke about his relationship when he was featured on The Bridge alongside Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni, Cindy Bruna, and François-Henry Bennahmias.

The 31-year-old music star said he might not have settled down with any woman if he had not met his wife before fame.

“I have a friend who is very rich but single and every time I am on the phone with my wife, he would say he has everything in the world, but a wife is what he is missing,” he said.

“I met my wife before I had money, but I was saying to myself that if I didn’t meet her and now I am single and I meet a girl then I already know that it won’t be the same.

“I would know that she is talking to me because I am Davido and she knows that I have money.

“To me, success is when I am doing something and I see people around me who were there when I was nothing and they see me now, that is a sweet thing to me.

“Not that you blow up and start hanging out with different people. You need to keep the people that were there with you when you were grinding. I want to see the people that knew me as nothing but now they see me as something”.

The ‘Timeless’ hitmaker and Chioma lost Ifeanyi, their three-year-old son, on October 30, 2022.

Ifeanyi was said to have drowned in a pool within Davido’s residence in Banana Island, Lagos.

In March 2023, Davido confirmed his marriage to Chioma.

With strings of awards and honourary mentions, the singer has established himself as one of the leading names in the Nigerian music industry.
